The sun is out to celebrate May Day!
May Day is a celebration day related to the Celtic festival or Beltane and the Germanic festival or Walpurgis Night. It falls a half year from November 1.
As Europe became Christianized, the pagan holidays lost their religious character and either changed into popular secular celebrations, as with May Day, or were merged with or replaced by new Christian holidays as with Christmas, Easter, Pentecost and All Saint’s Day. In the 20th and continuing into the 21st century, many neopagans began reconstructing the old traditions and celebrating May Day as a pagan religious festival again.
So get out into the sunshine today and bring in May! In Central Oregon, there’s always a reason to get outside and play. : )
If you’ve been around the Central Oregon area for awhile, you’re probably aware of the band The Autonomics. This band, consisting of lead singer and guitarist Dan Pantenburg, bassist Vaughn Leikam and drummer Evan Leikam, is fun for the whole family. With music that makes you want to dance your face off, it’s bound to be a good night whenever and wherever they play, which is in Bend tonight, April 11.
Tonight, The Autonomics are playing at Silver Moon, located on Greenwood, and releasing their first full length album, “Trust Your Instincts.” If you’re looking for a relaxing time listening to some great musicians, go on and check it out. On a beautiful day like today, why not end it with a great beer and a excellent band?
Get out there and support our local musicians! : ) And get there early because it’s going to be packed!

This is Glacier National Park. So beautiful right?
Just so much has been going on lately. We had a beautiful few days and that was amazing. Gotta love when spring starts coming cause that means that summer is right around the corner, and Central Oregon summer activities are blooming.
Some fun facts about the Central Oregon area to get you excited about the changing seasons:
• Bend was ranked number 3 on Livability.com’s Top 10 Romantic Cities List, and also ranked number 2 on the Top 10 Death Defying Cities list
• Although it should be no surprise, Bend was ranked number 8 on The Pour Fool’s list of Best Beer Towns
• According to a Bend Oregon newsletter, “Building permits for new construction last year reached the highest mark since before the recession, Deschutes County manufacturing employment increased 6.6% between third quarter 2011 and the same quarter in 2012. There’s a lot abuzz in the Central Oregon area. In addition to the above rankings and facts, Bend is in the Final Four for The Best City for Pet Travelers Tournament. Click the link and vote to make Bend the dog city we already know it is. : )
Follow the Fork Walking tour – March 15, 22, & 29th
If you want to stroll, sip and sample your way through Bend’s Westside, then the Follow the Fork walking tour is for you! Offered Friday mornings at 10am or by appointment for larger groups, this tour will introduce you to some of the family-owned and operated food and drink businesses that are working together to create a delicious synergy on the Westside.
You can still make your appointment for tomorrow, Friday March 15 and get yourself a tour of some of the great eats in Bend. This is a good way to familiarize yourself with the restaurants Bend has to offer for your next visit, or if you’re local, for your friends and family that come to visit. There are restaurants popping up all over the place and it’s fun to get out and see what’s new as well as what’s been around for a while!
Of all Tuesday nights to go out for a bite to eat, tonight is the best night for you to do it.
The Humane Society of Central Oregon teamed up with a few restaurants in the area. The event is one night and that night is tonight! Five fantastic downtown restaurants have agreed to participate in a benefit for the animals, called Tables for Tails. Joolz, 5 Fusion and Sushi Bar, Pine Tavern, 900 Wall and Jackson Grill will be donating a percentage of their tickets to the Humane Society and the animals they work hard to care for. Making a reservation is encouraged. And for more information, you can call John at (541) 382-3537
This benefit is a great opportunity to give to the community and the animals that need homes. In addition to eating for the cause, you can promote the community and animals loving values that Bend has built in the last few years! We all love our animals, and some are still looking for homes! So get yourself down to one of these amazing restaurants and do good. : )
It’s that time again. The time for drinking beer and contributing to the community!

Patty is spending her Wednesday up in Portland at the Cutting Edge Conference featuring REthink: The Future of Real Estate. REThink helps come up with solutions to real estate problems and helps to better real estate methods. One of the main focuses is Strategic Planning where answers can come organically. In order to move forward, we have to keep improving and asking the right questions. Learning and engagement are strategic and spaces need to be created where they can happen. In order to create change, we need to leverage our resources and one of largest resources of REThink is the members. With REThink, conversation and thoughts are free.
On the REThink website, they discuss scenario planning:
“Scenario planning helps us both adapt to future changes and proactively shape the future we want. It is also a critical tool to improve our decisions in the present, because this process expands our perspective, identifies new opportunities, and can overcome our collective and individual blind spots— especially to key game-changers, which often challenge our assumptions and beliefs.
It is important to remember that scenarios are not predictions. Rather, they are alternative stories of the future; they depict how current events and trends could play out over time. Good scenarios include both the expected and unexpected, as well conventional and unconventional thinking. In order for them to be useful, scenarios must be plausible, relevant and challenging; they also need to diverge enough to cover the range of possible futures that we may have to live in.”

Finding something to do for the weekend in Central Oregon is no simple venture. Not because there’s nothing to do but because there’s TOO much to do. Making decisions for the short weekend can be very challenging. Even in the winter, there are tons of options.
If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, there’s always heading up to Mt. Bachelor, of course. And this particular weekend, there is a snowboard competition up at this majestic mountain. The TransWorld Snowboarding TransAm takes place tomorrow and is more on the fun jam side of things. There will be loud music and plenty of entertainment. The description for this competition reads:
“The TransAm is all about having fun in a jam format snowboard-only event! TransWorld will declare the winners and it’s a good way to get your name out there, but it’s really about the comradery that builds out of everyone just snowboarding together and having a good time. TransWorld will be on site to give away sweet prizes, play loud music, and build weird stuff that you might only ride one day in your entire life. See you out there!”
Get yourself up to the snow and check it out! Should be a really good time.
Additionally, Wanderlust Tours is a great way to get out and see what winter in Central Oregon has to offer. From snowshoeing to cave tours, Wanderlust has what you’re looking for for an adventurous day with the family or even solo. You can meet new people as well as have a fulfilling weekend of fun.
If an adventure isn’t what you’re looking for, maybe pop in to one of the 15 breweries in the Central Oregon area and grab a brew and some grub with friends.
No matter what you’re interested in, there’s something to do here. If you’re just visiting or looking to buy real estate in this area, check out Visit Bend to get a good idea of what this place is all about. Have some fun and soak up all you can this weekend!
Hello all! It’s Wednesday and that means just two and a half more days until the weekend! Not that we’re too concerned because we LOVE our job. 😉
What’s fun about Wednesdays is this day can be that halfway point, a time to evaluate your week so far and look forward to the rest of the week and the changes you can see yourself making, the progress you can look forward to. Instead of looking at the week as “oh man, it’s only half over,” we can instead look at it as “I’ve only got 2 more days to accomplish my goals!” Wednesdays can be that time to even set new goals and plan the weekend, maybe a winter hike, a day trip to the mountain, or maybe a new art project? Either way, we’re happy it’s Wednesday.
Check out what Simply Me did this Wednesday and get inspired.
